Ford continued to post strong sales and market share gains in April, with Ford, Lincoln and Mercury dealers delivering 162,996 new vehicles in April – a 25 percent increase versus a year ago. It marks the fifth month in a row Ford sales have increased more than 20 percent. Year-to-date sales totaled 591,592, up 34 percent. In April, Ford retail sales were up 32 percent versus a year ago, and Ford gained retail market share for the 18th time in the last 19 months. Fleet sales were up 13 percent. Ford is benefiting from a fresh lineup of new, high-quality, fuel-efficient vehicles delivering industry-leading levels of safety and smart design. To read the full article, click here. Sales at Ford Motor Company of Canada, Limited increased 24.5 percent compared to last April led by strong sales results across the lineup. Strong results of the Ford Taurus, Fusion, Edge and total Lincoln sales led to the overall increase in sales for April. In fact, Ford now has the highest customer satisfaction with vehicle quality among all major automakers, according to the first quarter Global Quality Research System (GQRS) study conducted by RDA Group of Bloomfield Hills, Mich. Helping to keep sales growing are the many new products, including the all-new 2011 Ford F-Series Super Duty – in showrooms now – as well as the Ford Fiesta, Focus, Edge, Explorer, Transit Connect Electric, Lincoln MKX and the brand's first luxury hybrid vehicle, the Lincoln MKZ Hybrid midsize sedan, all coming out this year. ADT Security Services, the world's largest electronic security provider, recently purchased 1,500 Ford Transit Connects and intends to double that number within the next six months, saving some $5.3 million annually in fuel costs while reducing carbon emissions. With plans to order a total of 3,000 Transit Connects, ADT, a Tyco International company based in Boca Raton, Fla., will replace nearly half of its North American fleet with Ford's new compact van. The Transit Connects will be driven by thousands of ADT technicians who install and service security systems for millions of residential customers throughout North America. Ford will deliver on its 2006 pledge to double the number of 2010 model year flexible-fuel vehicles it produces in the U.S. Flexible-fuel vehicles are capable of running on E-85 (a mixture of 85 percent ethanol and 15 percent gasoline), gasoline or any mixture of the two fuels. The announcement was made this week by Sue Cischke, Ford's group vice president, Sustainability, Environment and Safety Engineering, at the 2010 BIO International Convention in Chicago. The 2011 Ford Fiesta took to late-night TV to mark Cinco de Mayo, joining the cast of "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" and a dance troupe to show off just how much fun Ford's newest small car can be. "We were excited to once again team up with the 'Jimmy Kimmel Live!' show for Fiesta," says Connie Fontaine, Ford brand content and alliances manager. Ford Customer Service Division (FCSD) is using Mike Rowe in webisodes to help inform consumers about vehicle maintenance and spread the word about the expertise, training and value at Ford and Lincoln Mercury service departments. "Mike Rowe, ranked by Forbes.com as the fourth 'most trusted celebrity,' is the ideal partner for Ford and Lincoln Mercury service because he exemplifies sincerity, dependability, honesty and confidence – the qualities that closely match the strengths of our dealership service departments, ' explained Mike Rosingana, advertising manager, FCSD. Ford is teaming up with automotive lifestyle magazine DUB to roll out a specially customized version of the new 2011 Mustang, introducing the iconic sports car to a new generation of enthusiasts. The DUB Edition Mustang is based on Ford's outstanding new 3.7-liter V-6 Mustang and will be available this fall. A collaboration between Ford, DUB and Roush Industries, the DUB Edition Mustang will be offered as a coupe, convertible or with the best-of-both-worlds Glass Roof option. Days after unveiling its new 'Feel the difference' brand campaign at Auto China 2010, Changan Ford Sales Company reported its 15th consecutive month of year-on-year growth with April sales that increased 37.6 percent to 26,598 units. The continued popularity of Ford Fiesta among China's young generation helped its April sales rise 68 percent from a year ago to 6,414 units, boosting total sales of this trend-setting car to 73,224 units. Ford Motor Company and Azure Dynamics Corporation announced that they have signed a collaborative agreement to begin delivering a pure battery electric version of the successful Ford Transit Connect van to customers in Europe beginning in late summer 2011. Azure will integrate its Force Drive™ battery electric drive train into Transit Connect vehicles in Europe to support the sale of the zero-emission battery-electric models in selected markets. Ford Brazil launched its system for scheduling online services, the Ford Agenda, an unprecedented initiative in the Brazilian market. The tool is available at www.ford.com.br and all Ford Dealers, where the customer can choose the attendance date and time and even the technical consultant who will verify the necessary maintenance on the vehicle in the Ford dealer of his/her choice. "Ford is the first automaker in Brazil to have a national service agenda, integrating all dealer service centers. Worldwide, we did not find anything like this. Aside from the convenience of offering the most convenient time for the client, Ford Agenda helps to give full transparency in the care and service. The sixth millionth Fiesta has been produced at the Niehl Assembly Plant, 31 years after the first one left the assembly line in Cologne in October 1979. The model, a three-door Vision Blue Sport edition is destined for a German customer. The first Fiesta was built in Valencia, Spain in 1976, where the latest-generation model continues to be built. When news came that a 7.1 magnitude earthquake hit Qinghai province on April 14, Ford's joint ventures in China, Changan Ford Mazda Automobile (CFMA) and Jiangling Motors Corporation (JMC), acted without hesitation. On April 20, CFMA announced a donation of RMB 1.5 million (USD 219,700) to the area affected by the earthquake. Three days later, eight Ford Transit Ambulances donated by JMC were driven from Nanchang to the earthquake zone. Five of them were new generation Transit Ambulances and three were Ford Classic Transit Ambulances – each fitted with advanced medical equipment, including a stretcher, aspirator and defibrillator.
