Mark Fields on Go
Further
In his Jan. 18 webcast, Mark Fields answered a question
about how our new global brand promise, Go
Further, should affect how we do our everyday work.
Below is his answer. If you have additional questions,
please email them to gofurthr@ford.com.
You're going to hear a lot more about Go Further
during the year. Let me start by saying this is not
just an advertising tagline per se. This was a lot of
work done by Marketing and Sales and others, talking
with employees, talking with dealers and more. It
really cuts to what we stand for as a company and how
we go about things. It’s part of our culture.
What really came out as part of our culture is that we
always go further as individuals, as a team, as a
company. It goes back to our founder Henry Ford going
further to put America on wheels and helping create the
middle class.
So this, in a way, is reinforcing many of the things
we already do now – going further for our
customers, for our dealers, for our communities. It
really is about how we approach our work, our life and
our relationships in the company. Trying to distill it
down to a couple of words hopefully continues to
represent what we do as we move the company forward
over the next number of years.

Four Ford Pillars
Shine at NAIAS
Ford's commitment to leadership in the four pillars
– Quality, Green, Safe and Smart– shines at
the 2012 North American International Auto Show
(NAIAS).
Instead of having large signs pointing show visitors to
areas of the Ford stand that highlight the four key
areas, the meaning behind the pillars is conveyed in a
more powerful way, according to Darrell Bryja, manager,
Global Auto Shows and Events.

Ford's Living
Connected Experience at NAIAS Illustrates How Trends
Drive Future of Ford
Trends play an important role in product development at
Ford. They give the company valuable insight on how to
prepare for the future, particularly as it relates to
in-car technology.
One of the highlights of the Ford display at the 2012
North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) is the
Living Connected Experience, which introduces visitors
to five important trends influencing in-car technology
– Information Overload, Access Without Ownership,
Experience and Entertainment, Megacities and Changing
Population – before sending them up a
20-foot-tall ride to "the cloud" where a
360-degree film gives them a glimpse of what life
behind the wheel just might look like in the future.

Hourly Employees Reach
Out to the Public at NAIAS
The North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) is a
sublime place for Ford Motor Company to showcase its
vision for the future and the direction we're
headed. Public days are not only a breath of fresh air
and a new perspective, but a great chance for UAW-Ford
employees to talk to real customers driving the same
cars they build each day.
Chris Mack, tag relief operator, Dearborn Truck Plant
(DTP), enjoyed working the auto show for his first
time.
