Rawsonville’s men’s softball team completed its summer season with a bang by winning their division.
The co-ed team, led by co-coaches Joe Garwolinski (Battery) and Andy Hailey (Carbon Canister) played two games every Sunday at Rotary Park in Taylor.
“It doesn’t matter how you start, it’s all about how you finish, said Garwolinski. We lost our first games, but got better as the season progressed,” he said.
The season was also dedicated to UAW Local 898 Production Bargaining Rep. Marcus Mathews, who passed away in April.
Garwolinski says the winning streak started when everyone started showing up to games and playing as a team. It’s a far cry from last year, after the team failed to win a single game.
The group is now participating in a fall league that starts in September. All Rawsonville employees and families are encouraged to come out and support the team!
