WOODHAVEN, MICH; Within the first few days of opening, nearly 800 WSP team members visited the new Market 24/7 in Break Room #3 — that’s almost 75 percent of the plant’s workforce.
The idea to bring the convenience market to WSP was first introduced by Skilled Labor Bargaining Rep. Chris Pfaff, then brought to fruition by local UAW Chairman Mike “Ike” Iocoangeli.
“The general feedback from the team has been really positive,” Iocoangeli said. “I’m glad Chris looked into this. It was a great idea and everyone seems to really like it.”
The market not only brought the majority of plant to Break Room #3 in its first week, but it was the largest opening week of any Market 24/7 location by Continental Canteen, the company behind the market.
“Woodhaven Stamping Plant continues to show success in the market exceeding all other accounts in the Fresh Food program,” said Scott Sierzenga, Market 24/7 director.
During select days within the opening week, WSP employees who signed up for the market’s pre-paid cards were given a $2 credit and more than 60 team members won prizes in a raffle.
The market is open 24 hours a day and accepts credit and debit cards.
