The Walton Hills Stamping Plant and UAW Local 420 hosted an event for recently disenfranchised employees, with two presenters from Employment Connection’s Rapid Response program, and one specialist from the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services. Former employees were treated to a presentation of free services available from the State that may prove helpful as they seek reemployment.
Also in attendance were Brian Goff, UAW Local 420 President and Chairman, Joe Baker, ERC Representative, Fred McCann, Production Chairman, Tracy Auseo, Denise Supanich, Plant Nurse, Tyra Grier-Coleman, Human Resource Manager, and Robin Stratton, Training & Development Leader.
The services provided through the Rapid Response program are called “One-Stop” – several employment services available under one roof. Each Employment Connection office offers the same services to clientele. “We understand being unemployed is a difficult time for people. We try to make the transition back to work as smooth as possible, which is why identical services are available at each of our locations,” stated Ashley Crock, recruiter for Rapid Response. “Our name ‘Rapid Response’ means that we can service our partner companies quickly, meeting their needs as they arise.”
Future plans for Rapid Response services include interview training and resume writing sessions. They also plan to be back at the UAW Local 420 Union Hall as the Walton Hills Stamping Plant schedule demands.
And how did the participants enjoy the program? “I’m really happy to be here today. I think it’s great that the UAW and Ford cares enough to bring these people in try to help us out,” said one attendee.
