 Construction Alert: I-96 Freeway Closure

DATE: Will be calculated from "Release Start Date" field.

A major construction project on 1-96 (Jeffries Freeway) could have a significant impact on your travel to and from work.

Beginning Friday, April 4, after 7:00 p.m., ramps and interchanges will close, and starting Saturday, April 5, the full freeway is scheduled to close for a 7-mile stretch between Newburgh Road and Telegraph Road. Additionally, one lane will close on Schoolcraft Road also known as the 1-96 Service Drive beginning Thursday, April 3.

During the period of full closure, both directions of I-96 traffic will be detoured to alternate routes, including
I-275, I-696, M-10 (Lodge) and M-39 (Southfield Freeway).

The project, which is expected to last for six months, will allow crews to reconstruct the freeway, repair overpasses, and upgrade utilities.

It is recommended that during the first couple of weeks, employees test or choose alternate routes and learn to gage their new commute times.

Visit www.96fix.com for more information on the closure.
