CHONGQING, China — Ford has unleashed the special 2012 Mondeo limited edition into the Chinese market with a sporty new contemporary styling.
One of the stars of Auto China 2012 in Beijing held in April, this new Mondeo edition brings a fresh look in both interior and exterior design to meet the needs of young Chinese customers. As a flagship model, equipped with additional safety features which are not included in the normal Mondeo, the limited edition offers customers rain-sensing wipers, a tyre pressure monitor, knee airbag, and front parking sensor to make driving even easier and safer.
The special edition comes with Ford’s powerful EcoBoost GTDi engine, which delivers up to 176.5 kW of power and 340 Nm of torque with an average fuel consumption of just 7.9L/100km.
"It’s been two years since I test drove a Ford Mondeo, and the new Mondeo limited edition really impressed me a lot," wrote Huang Zhenqiao, editor of Autohome, com.cn in a test drive review for the website.
"The quietness of the car is excellent as usual and the spacious room inside the car makes both driver and passengers very comfortable. The EcoBoost GTDi engine was extremely powerful and also very responsive during acceleration, which gave me great confidence when overtaking."
Ford China also announced the launch on the Chinese micro-blogging site Sina, with potential customers excited at the news.
“What attracts me most is those wonderful safety features on this limited version - safety always comes first when I choose a vehicle," said Sina user @heyehe.
“I think the knee airbag feature in this limited edition is a great design, you don’t often see this in other brands or models. It truly provides extra protection for the driver and the passengers,” said fellow user @chuanmeizijia.
The special edition will be limited to only 2000 units coming in two colors – black and pearl white, with a recommended retail price of RMB 256,800 ($40,000).
